Just let me say how much I love You
Let me speak of Your mercy and grace
Just let me live in a shadow of Your beauty
Let me see You face to face
And the earth will shake as Your Word goes forth
And the heavens will tremble and fall
But let me say how much I love You
Oh my Savior, my Lord and Friend
Just let me hear Your finest whispers
As You gently call my name
And let me see Your power and Your glory
Let me feel Your spirit's flame
Let me find You in the desert
Till this sand is holy ground
And I am found completely surrendered
To You my Lord and Friend
So let me say how much I love You
With all my heart I long for You
For I am caught in this passion of knowing
This endless love I've found in You
And the depth of grace, the forgiveness found
To be called a child of God
Just makes me say how much I love You
Oh my Savior, my Lord and Friend (x2)
Just makes me say how much I love You
Oh my Savior, my Lord and Friend
For a long time, I can't see and I can't hear, what others are telling me, without words. I don't understand the suffering that was silent. I couldn't see the tears behind those angry words. I couldn't hear the cries behind the cold and aloof stares. All I could see is myself, my pain, my fears, my rejection.
And then slowly God opened my eyes to see how the world is filled with people suffering deeper fears and darker despair than I have known. He opened my ears to hear the desperation in the language of silence, absence and restlessness. He broke my heart with betrayal, disappointment and humiliation. He tested it with trials, temptations and loneliness. And now I can see myself better, how small, how broken, how helpless and bare.
And when it became dark, and I seemed to have lost my way and my voice in the desert. His song came, and lifted up my spirit. His song of unwavering faith, enduring hope and a love that never fails. He taught me to trust Him when I cannot see the next step. He taught me to pour joy into hard places and not be afraid of running dry. He taught me to love and accept those who have sought to hurt me. He showed me what He can do with a small and broken heart like mine, when it is fully surrendered for Him to fill and empty.
And now I can see myself in His eyes, not what I have been, now what I merely am today, but what I will be, as I trust the Refiner's hand, to hold me in the heart of the flame, till the very moment, His reflection, His grace and glory, can be seen in me.
